Achieva 1.5T Nova Dual HP Scanner

Meeting Your Every MRI Need…
At One Location
We are pleased to announce that we have just installed the most advanced High-Field MRI in the Miami area – the Philips Achieva 1.5T Nova Dual High-Performance MRI. Together with our Stand-Up MRI, the only completely Open, Weight-Bearing and Positional MRI in the Miami area, we now have the best of both MRI worlds at a single location.
Referring physicians no longer have to answer the question,“Do I send this patient to the best Open MRI or to the best High-Field MRI?” Just send the patient to us. We have both!
The Achieva 1.5T Nova Dual HP scanner is Philip’s top-of-the-line 1.5T
scanner. Designed for the most discriminating of physicians, this premiere model provides “university-grade” MRI imaging. What elevates it above all other High-Field MRIs is its high-powered dual gradient package - the Nova Dual High-Performance Gradient System.
Nova Dual High-Performance Gradient System
Peak Capability (on axis): 66 mT/m peak
Slew Rate (on axis): 180 T/m/s
Linearity: 1.4%, both modes
FOV: 53 cm, both modes
There is no High-Field MRI in the Miami area that can match the performance of this scanner. The combination of its outstanding magnetic field homogeneity and its exceptional dual-gradient linearity allows the Achieva 1.5T Nova Dual HP to deliver optimal image quality over large volumes.
The Achieva 1.5T Nova Dual HP offers an exceptional 53 cm FOV and superb offset imaging performance for both body and extremity scanning, and produces the highest resolution, neurological and muskuloskeletal images.
The Nova Dual HP Gradient System also enables new and demanding clinical applications, including high-resolution short TE/TR and EPI acquisitions.
An Added Benefit
As you know, a good number of patients find High-Field MRIs uncomfortable. You will be pleased to learn that the Achieva 1.5T Nova Dual HP has a patient bore that is nearly 24 inches both in diameter and depth. This compact design improves overall patient comfort and minimizes any claustrophobic effects.
When it comes to meeting your High-Field MRI needs, we are confident that we will exceed your expectations.
Our Stand-Up MRI is the only MRI in the Miami area that provides Weight-Bearing and Positional MRI. If your patient is symptomatic in a particular position, we can scan the patient in that very position - whether it be sitting, standing, bending, in flexion or extension, or lying down.
New UCLA Studies
At the annual meeting of the North American Spine Society (NASS) held in Austin, Texas in October of 2007, UCLA researchers presented four studies (1302 patients) that demonstrate both the importance of flexion and extension and the inadequacy of recumbent-only MRI imaging for spine studies. Among the results:
“In the [510] patients with back pain, missed spondylolisthesis in neutral MRIs but found in flexion MRIs is 18.1% for all the levels in the condition that the spondylolisthesis is considered as more than 3 mm translation.” Also, L3-4 was the “most commonly missed” at 38.7% when the allowed slip was 3 mm and was 35.1% at L4-5.*
“In a study of 163 patients with radicular cervical spine symptoms: “Using 2.0 mm of disc bulge as a cutoff value, the false negative ratio for the neutral position alone compared to flexion and extension was 25.08%”
*Missed Spondylolisthesis in Static MRIs but Found in Dynamic MRIs in Patients with Low Back Pain, S.W. Hong et al., UCLA School of Medicine, Albert Einstein College of Medicine & Hacettepe University; The Spine Journal, Vol. 7 (2007)
**Positional MRI: A Valuable Tool in the Assessment of Cervical Disc Bulge, P. Moazzaz. M.D, et al., UCLA School of Medicine, The Spine Journal, Vol. 7 (2007)

Excellent Image Quality
The Stand-Up MRI operates at 0.6 Tesla, which is twice the field strength of most Open MRIs. The direction of the scanner’s magnetic field, together with an unusual variety of compatible receiver coil technologies, enables the Stand-Up MRI to produce images of extraordinary quality
Completely Open MRI
Most patients can walk in, sit down, and watch a 42” TV throughout their exams. If you have patients that are claustrophobic or exceptionally large, be assured that there is no scanner anywhere that can better accommodate them than the Stand-Up MRI.
